I always wanted to take a series of photographs about the oil crisis in the world, and now it is more relevant than ever. The environmental consequences of oil spills are horrendous. Hundreds of thousands of inhabitants of the seas and oceans are dying. In cities, we breathe polluted air.

A large role in air pollution belongs to jet aircraft and cars. To cross the Atlantic Ocean, a modern jet liner absorbs 35 tons of oxygen and leaves contrails that increase cloudiness. Cars significantly pollute the atmosphere, there are already more than 500 million of them. Man recklessly pollutes the water basins of the planet.

Every year, for one reason or another, from 2 to 10 million tons of oil are dumped into the World Ocean. Aerial photography from satellites recorded that almost 30% of the ocean surface is already covered with an oil membrane. The waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and their shores are especially polluted.

Series name are the actual place on earth where The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to as the “BP oil spill”) happened.  Approximately 134 million gallons of oil had spilled into the ocean. This is the largest accidental oil spill in history.

When we filmed this project, it was very difficult for the model to breathe, which is symbolic. The model symbolizes our planet, which has not yet completely turned into the color of oil — black. Before it’s too late, people must take action. I always liked the expression — Don’t Shit Where You Eat. But thats what humanity is doing now.
